From dog hair waste to protective pet wearables.

This project explores keratin extracted from discarded dog hair as a sustainable material resource. By transforming what is typically treated as waste, it investigates how dog hair can be processed and repurposed into functional products.

The project proposes protective footwear for dogs, addressing paw injuries caused by hot urban surfaces such as asphalt during the summer months. Through prototyping and material testing, it evaluates the material’s durability, comfort, and practical application.

The work also highlights the broader potential of biological waste, encouraging a reconsideration of everyday materials within circular and sustainable design practices.
