Snow Seeds
Stickers that make snow: Finishes to regenerate snow dependent climates.
As adventure tourism expands, local governments have developed ski towns to accommodate growing populations and rising numbers of visitors. However, this rapid growth - compounded by climate change - has taken a toll on local ecosystems.
This project introduces soluble surface coatings that release minerals into the snow. As the snow evaporates, these minerals rise into the atmosphere and stimulate cloud formation, generating localised snowfall. This process could help slow glacier melt and support the restoration of natural climatic patterns.
By advancing cloud seeding technology, the aim is to promote glacier regeneration and revive local snowfall cycles.
