Redefining Palm Oil
Challenging the Western perception of palm oil by transforming waste into wealth.
For decades, Western media has portrayed palm oil as a harmful commodity. Yet in the East - where 85% of it is produced - it holds significant cultural and economic value. Many criticisms are rooted in misconceptions or focus on issues that are equally prevalent in other industries. This project redefines palm oil’s potential by blending Eastern perspectives with technology. A key innovation is POME Bioplastic, created from Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME), a waste byproduct. Bacteria transform POME into a biodegradable material that enhances soil health and promotes plant growth, offering a sustainable alternative to traditional plastics. This innovation shifts the narrative, positioning palm oil as a solution rather than a problem.
