Carbon FootPrint

Turning each step into a solution for carbon capture.

Everyday movement - whether commuting, running errands, or simply walking - can become part of the solution to the destructive impact of carbon emissions. This project integrates basalt, a volcanic rock that naturally mineralises CO2, into sneaker components like soles or uppers. Under optimal conditions, 1 kg of basalt can permanently capture 300g to 500g of CO2. By incorporating this material, sneakers can actively reduce atmospheric carbon as people go about their day. Given that an average pair of sneakers generates around 13 kg of CO2, this innovation helps minimize part of their footprint. This project redefines sustainable sportswear, transforming footwear into a tool for environmental action - one step at a time.
